Bradbury Building

UE4, Baked lighting, Maya, Substance Designer, Substance Painter, Zbrush, and Marmoset

Fascinated by buildings I've seen in movies, and the Bradbury Building has always stood out to me as an iconic example of LA architecture. Since it's nearby, I took the opportunity to visit and take reference photos. I broke down the building into modular pieces in Maya. I was then able to layout and light the building in Unreal Engine 4 using GPU lightmass. This project also marked the first time I worked with construction scripts, which I used to create the light fixtures.

Blueprint

This construction script creates a light fixture that can be turned on or off directly in the editor. The blueprint gives artists the ability to adjust the light’s color and intensity easily. It works by linking both the light and its material to the same set of variables, allowing for synchronized changes. This setup streamlines the process, enabling artists to place and customize lights quickly without needing to manage multiple assets for a single fixture.
