Apartment Design, Look dev and Lighting

Lighting, interior design and material look dev. Day and night lighting cycle. UE5 with lumen GI and reflection. No raytracing.

For this piece, I set out to create a photorealistic environment of an apartment inspired by the 1990s and early 2000s. The layout closely mirrors a place I used to live in, adding a personal and nostalgic touch to the scene. I aimed to make the space feel lived-in, reflecting the personality and interests of its occupants through small details and clutter.

For the video, I focused on capturing a time-lapse to emphasize the changing lighting conditions throughout the day. This approach allowed me to showcase how light interacts with the environment, enhancing the realism and atmosphere of the space.

Blueprint Light Switch

Created a dynamic light switch system that controls multiple blueprint-based light fixtures. The system involves four interconnected Blueprint systems working together: the character Blueprint initiates the interaction with a key press, triggering the light switch Blueprint, which updates the switch's position and stores references to the associated light fixtures. An interaction Blueprint carries the on/off Boolean state between the switch and the fixtures. The light fixture Blueprints then respond by toggling visibility and switching materials based on the Boolean value, enabling a functional and visually responsive lighting setup.
